Services

Oregon Container Terminal (OCT) is a multi-modal transportation hub for deep sea vessels, transcontinental rail, Columbia river barges and trucks.

Truck gates are open Monday through Friday from 0800 to 1700 or additional as required,

OCT is at the inland terminus of the 105-mile long, 43' deep draft, channel serving ocean going ships and is the downriver terminus of a 360-mile inland river system reaching past Washington and Oregon into Western Idaho.

OCT handles containers, break bulkand project cargoes with high speed ship to shore gantry cranes.

Direct connection to two class 1rail carriers (BNSF, UPRR).

Over the past 5 years, The Port of Portland has partnered with the local ILWU workforce leading to high productivity, stability of performance, and a commitment to making OCT a sustainable and reliable gateway for Oregon businesses.

Container Capabilities

OCT supports efficient container operations with deep-water berth access, ship-to-shore cranes, and dedicated yard space for stacking and reefer processing. The terminal layout enables smooth vessel, rail, and truck transfers, helping reduce dwell time and support reliable import and export flows.

Intermodal Yard

The intermodal yard at OCT supports efficient rail operations with direct on-dock access to BNSF and Union Pacific. The yard layout allows rapid grounding, staging, and rail loading while minimizing equipment moves. This configuration reduces dwell time, improves train turn performance, and helps maintain consistent cargo flow through the terminal.

Multi Use Facility

OCT operates as a flexible multi-use facility with space and equipment for break-bulk, project cargo, steel products, vehicles, and other specialized freight. Its combination of deep-draft access, heavy-lift capability, and on-dock rail gives shippers a single gateway for diverse cargo needs.

Environmental Social and Governance

ESG

Environmental - Waterborne transportation is by far the most environmentally efficient method of transporting goods. Further, waterborne and rail transportation are the most economically efficient modes of transport.  OCT will continue to support advances in reducing emissions with our stakeholders.

Social - OCT is a proud, American owned, union manned, partner to Oregon’s businesses and government.  OCT aims to find solutions that support all stakeholders.   OCT holds the highest standards for safety, diversity and community engagement.

Governance - OCT, it’s owners, and employees work within the highest standards for ethics, transparency and collaboration.

OCT is a large part of the Oregon community, and as such, will strive to be a leader in sustainable industrialization, ethics and engagement with our customers, workforce, and other stakeholders.

OCT is committed to the principles of being a good corporate citizen, with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) being an integrated part of our operational, financial and developmental plans.
